Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - The Oakland Athletics placed shortstop Bobby Crosby on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a lower back strain. The move is retroactive to July 31. Crosby has struggled at the plate this season hitting only .229 with nine home runs and 38 runs batted in. Oakland selected infielder D'Angelo Jimenez from Triple-A Sacramento to take Crosby's spot on the 40-man roster. The A's also designated left-handed pitcher Randy Keisler for assignment.
